 | polrbear (0) 07/02/2008 | This story has given me a new hope for romance to still be expressed and wanted. So many stories today have lost their innocence: the simplicity of loving someone. We must not forget they do have problems...( a lot of them ) but; still hinded in her story of Edward and Bella is understanding the love that they have for each other. I find myself being pulled into their story. I have very much enjoyed sharing these stories with my family and friends. I ,also; will look forward to more of Edward and Bella to unfold. I wait with great anticipation for her 4th book; Breaking Dawn (in a month )and the movie, as well ( in December ).
So many people have thanked you for you storeies Mrs. Meyers', I'm sure. But, I would like to say that you have given me a gift, to be able to create a memory with my family....Thank you.

 | damnitsue (0) 04/24/2008 | Okay so at first when I read this I thought "Wow this is pretty good.'
And then when I was done I realized what I spent my time on. I spent it on a book where there's no character development, no good plot line, and no real detail.
I swear to god this was the WHOLE plot line.
"I woke up. I went to school. I thought about Edward Cullen. OHHH HIS AMBER EYES! I came home. I talked to my dad Charlie. I thought about Edward Cullen."
And that's not all. Let's take Edward for example. He's supposed to be a beautiful PEFRECT vampire. But to be honest, he is NOTHING special. He is BORING. In some books, character personalties just fly off the page. But not with Edward. "OHH HIS CROOKED SMILE!" and that's pretty much it. Plus his dialogue is put into about 3 categories. 1- "Bella you are my moon and stars. I love you." 2-"Who says you can state your own opinions? I'm a vampire and I'm always right." 3-"Bella we cannot get too intimate. One wrong move and I can kill you."
I don't know what girls find in that BORING character.
Then we've got Bella. If she was going to be a narrator, then I would expect her to really display her feelings--and she did-- and it was nauseating. It got to the point where I wanted to throw the book away. Every single page was about Edward. She had no life! It's all about Edward! She's a whiny little bitch who wants to have her cake and eat it. I couldn't even listen to her remarks anymore.
This whole book was 500 pages of FLUFF.
And yes Stephenie did make some good points in this book but really, I thought Charlie had more personality than all the characters put together.
She had such nice characters that could have been turned into something more! For instance Emmett. She could have made him super funny and goofy but she hardly did that. Everything seemed so serious. Rosalie was too hostile about everything! That's one of the things I found amusing.
And Alice- she could have been cuter. She could have had a humorous side that LOVES to shop-and yes she does, but it could've been shown a little more.
But I must say that I did love Jasper. He seemed to be cute and sensitive. Although there wasn't much mentioned about him, I did like his cool character. WOW THERE'S SOMETHING WE DON'T SEE EVERY DAY!
I also did like the lullaby that Edward made for Bella. I thought that was sweet and very romantic.
The book could've been a lot better. And maybe if people would stop making such a big deal out of it, it might be better. People only think it's good because some of them haven't read a single book in their lives. Honestly, read something like Jane Austen or Jodi Picoult and then tell me how good that book was!

 | XxKissesandBitesxX (0) 01/30/2008 | The story inspired me so much. I read the book in one day and I can't even put into words how brilliant it is! This book has changed the three words love, vampires, and Edward. Me and my friends are overly obsessed, it turns non-romantic people into hopeless ones!

 | Ilovetwilight (0) 08/12/2007 | I am amazed by stephenie meyer!!! Twilight is my favorite book of all time, and believe me I have read my fair share of books. No description of this book could do it justice. All I could say is that I recommend it to everyone. Believe me, reading this book is well worth the time it takes to do so.

 | TwilightGirl (0) 08/01/2007 | It's a great book; the kind you can read a million times but never really get the story correct, so natraully you have to read it again. i see Bella Swan, an older version of me. Of course, i will never have a vampire boyfriend ( im still not sure if thats a bad thing -_-') and i am quite tan but other than that, all of our features are exactly the same. Bella would handle situations, the same way i would. i also get motion sickness Very easily. It would surly be a wonderful thing if i could grow up reading this book; with the more and more novels coming its hard to choose, anyone who is unsure about buying it; dont hesitate. its a wondeful story.

 | Bumglue (0) 05/06/2007 | I loved the book it was beautifully written but am disappointed at the cliche plot. I want to read about someone who doesn't love a vampire or a vampire who isn't absolutely stunnig

 | Guardsister64 (0) 10/26/2006 | This book shows a great mix of romance, suspence, action, and topics everyone can relate to. Stephanie Meyer writes with great description and humor. If you love love stories and vampies, you'd love this story.

 | alyak11 (0) 10/13/2006 | I read anything I can get my hands on, si-fi, fantisy, chick flik books and every thing else, but this book was the best i've read in a very long time. when i started reading it I didn't even know it had anything to do with vanpires. I have read to many vanpire books to count and they were ok but 95 persent of them could be a whole ton better, anyway I might not have even read it if i had seen the back before i started. im so glad i did though. i have already read it three times, and loved it more and more every time. I have also got at least 4 of my friends hooked it to. I am looking forward to reading twilight from Edwards perspective. this was without a thought the best vampire story i have ever read.

 | poisoned.beauty.04 (0) 03/08/2006 | i read this book twice in less than 3.5 days. i was addicted. i found this to be a beautifully enthralling tale, and a completely new look at what we stereotypically picture when we hear the word vampire. not a particularly chalenging piece to read, but definitely intriguing. others may not have enjoyed this novel as much as i, but i found myself staying up till all hours of the morning, unable to put it down. the bad part is there is no sequal to it , being as this is the first novel this author has published. all in all, two thumbs up stephanie meyer.

 | sweetest_migraine (0) 02/18/2006 | I thought the book was overall descent. It had a good enough storyline, I think with some work it could be a lot better. One of my only critacisms is the way Edward was constantly compared. It was always Greek god, male model or something that was supposed to be perfect. But I was, also confused with some of the descriptions, to me all the characters looked the same. There probably could have been a much more creative way to describe the characers. Otherwise I can't think of much else to say. I guess it all depends on your taste.

 | Raven Among Doves (0) 02/12/2006 | WARNING: Spoilers ahead!
I first came across this book on an advertisement on vampirefreaks.com. After seeing the novel in Target, on sale, I figured, "Eh, what the hell...." and snagged a copy.
Not my shining moment.
Before I'd finished the first couple of chapters, it became very obvious that this was definitely a piece of fiction meant for young adults. It's a shame Target does not have clearly divided categories for their literature (or at least, the one here doesnt) or else I probably would have steered clear from it. Oh well.
The main problem I had with "Twilight" was that the characters were very, very bland, not to mention confusing! I've read several articles on naming your characters that states you should only have ONE sexy, heroic name per book, and never name your characters epithets that begin with the same letter. Emmett, Edward, Esma... Stop.
The characters themselves were "Mary Sues", no real originality to behold. In fact, I'd be hard pressed to find much of that at all in this book. Beautiful, ethereal, gothic beings, living in a mansion, they're so strong and amazing and mysterious and talented and blah blah blah. Of course. Where are their flaws? By this, I am not referring to a traumatic life, making them hurt and reclusive and such (though I'm pretty sure that was incorporated. Too many characters who were stereotypes to boot. Moving on!
The whole time I was reading this book, I wasn't thinking, "I just need to find out what happens next! Just one more chapter before bed, I swear!" My thoughts were more along the lines of, "... I can't wait to start that Steven King novel. Just finish this thing and get it over with." A real teeth gritter of a task. I suppose the highlight of my boredom was when they were playing baseball in the field... nothing interesting there at all. You may as well just skim that part if you must bother. I bothered, and felt cheated. You've been forewarned.
The good points of this book? ...
I'm thinking, I'm thinking. Give me a moment. Oh yeah! The cover design was pretty, and the product itself doubles wonderfully as a clipboard. Don't forget the fact that if someone ever tries to break into your house, you have a couple hundred pages of vampiric firepower to beat them over the head with.
However I did think what the villain did to trick Bella into going to the ballet studio was crafty. Thumbs up, Stephanie! That wasn't so bad. I'm pretty sure most people would have known the difference between a home video and their own mother - the sound quality is a factor, not to mention that she's probably seen the footage half a million times and would recognize it - but that's forgivable.
Bella's relationship with her father was nicely portrayed, as well as her homesickness. I was glad to see there was at least that much there. Unfortunately, nostalgic depression is a very passed around emotion. Every one has written a character with that burden at some point, so no innovation there.
The fact that the author threw in standard, high school characters that were interested in Bella was a good touch; it reminded us that she had a life outside of fang-boy. Gave a good opportunity for jealousy, too.
However I can't stress how much I truly DID NOT enjoy vampires, in themselves, in this story. They SHINE in the sunlight instead of combusting, can't be harmed by crucifix's, and could just as well take a bubble bath in holy water as they could tap?
Don't mess with a classic.
Or, if you must, please make your characters less bland than a baked potato so we have a chance at believing these attributes.
Overall, this author DOES have potential to write well. The plot was there, it wasn't so bad. The use of similes and what nots are minimal, the words rambling, and so forth... but she did get published, right? There has to be some kind of talent there.
If you liked this book, you're bound to like "Vampire Kisses 2: Kissing Coffins" by Ellen Schreiber. If not, congratulations, you'll save a lot of money on straight jackets.
