They were flirting with perfection, but the Indianapolis Colts of 2005-06 didn't even go on to the Super Bowl (XL) and were less-touted the next year when they finally won Super Bowl XLI against the Chicago Bears. But with all due respect to the great Peyton Manning and the rest of the 2006-07 Indianapolis Colts that pulled it off, does their 2005-06 version take precedent over it, much less deserve a spot on this list of greatest teams ever? Hmmm?

This team is excellent, but they haven't even won a Super Bowl yet. How about the Patriots of the last few years? They've won three in four years and might become the first to win three in a row if they can do it this year?
