01/04/2006 | Eliminate ILLEGAL immigration, not the legalized variety. People who play by the rules of any given nation should have a fair chance to both prosper and contribute to that society, providing they are genuinely respectful of its culture and wish to assimilate into it.

01/02/2006 | This is fine, but can our citizens rise to the challenge of providing services that are provided by individuals who immigrate, both legally and illegally, to this country? We have so many doctors from foreign countries that provide much needed services. We have so many illegal immigrants that take jobs which are not accepted by Americans.

12/31/2005 | Immigration has been the lifeblood of this country for almost the entire history of the US. I am purebred mutt, imported from all over Europe, and proud of my ancestors for coming over here. On the other hand, uncontrolled and illegal border crossings do our country vastly more harm then good. Mixed in with the normal folk who just want a better life are criminals and terrorists. Get your papers, line up, and come in with the I's dotted and the T's crossed, if you please. Otherwise I'm liable to chuck you headlong back across the fence. To the government: you guys are seriously dropping the ball by not keeping a lid on the borders. Illegals are sucking the local economies dry down here. To businesses who hire illegals: I know they will work for peanuts, but those peanuts belong firstly to legal residents per existing federal and state laws. Quit hiring illegals, and they may run out of reasons to cross under the wire. Next orator, please! (dusts off the soapbox)

12/30/2005 | Do this, and we'll become a second rate nation almost as quickly as we will if we continue to allow unrestricted immigration.
One of the great powers America has is to attract the best and brightest from all corners of the globe. The dot.com boom we enjoyed in the 90's would have been a fraction of what it was if we had not been able to freely pluck the top computer and engineering minds from India. And that is only one example of how immigration has benefitted our nation.
Bad, bad idea.
