I remember seeing this in London years ago, and it was a real endurance test to see whether I was going to be able to stay awake until the end of the movie. An infuriating abomination of a movie, particularly when you consider the monumental waste of talent and money involved. I still have no idea what the plot was, or if there even was a plot. I remember Richard Burton looking distinctly embarrassed as the priest (as well he should have), James Earl Jones and locusts in Africa, Linda Blair hooked up with wires to her head, and Louise Fletcher proving that her "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest" Oscar really was a fluke after all. Especially disappointing because the first "Exorcist" film, while obviously not the greatest film ever made, was and is most definitely a horror classic. I've never seen the third installment, which some reviewers have said is actually pretty good, because this 2nd entry left such an atrociously bad taste in my mouth.

An abomination all around, Burton was terrible in this one, and James Earl Jones and Nurse Ratched weren't much better. Atrocious plot and godawful music.
