Very similar to the windup used by Luis Tiant in the seventies, apparently much more conservative than what he did in Japan.

Love that crazy Bugs Bunny style wind up, and he toned it down when he came to play in the U.S. In Japan, you see a lot more exaggerated deliveries from the pitchers, both from the wind-up and the stretch.

How he can generate power with that stop-animation for a delivery is beyond me. Took forever for hitters to start to figure him out. Still a pain to read what he's throwing.

The most unorthodox delivery of the last fifteen years. To be able to maintain eye contact with a runner standing on second base in mid pitching motion is strange to say the least. What's even more amazing is that he could generate that much power with a wind up like that.
