Appier had a fairly long career, mostly with K.C. Experts thought that he was bound to suffer a potentially career ending injury due to the fact that he threw hard with a violent, over the top, jerky motion. Eventually, he did succumb to injuries, but not before he had quite a few good years, and he certainly had a solid career: he was one of the more underrated hurlers of the era.
