Immaterial. No one this age would get elected.

Take a look at the voting age demographics some time and see the average age of the voter, and then look at the age groups with the highest percentage of voters.

You think 50 somethings are going to be voting for an 18 year old president? I don't.

Obviously not a good idea. The average person doesn't even graduate from college until they are 22. But even if the age limit was changed to 18, I doubt it would really change anything. With the current age limit of 35, how many major candidates do you see who are under 40?

On a related note, I wouldn't mind seeing an upper age limit. Most people retire at 65, why shouldn't politicians? I would suggest that you have to be under 65 to run for president, or for congress, for that matter. While juvenile politicians could obviously cause problems, I sometimes wonder about some of the older ones as well.

No life experience. This would be idiotic. It's hard enough to find someone that's older that can run the country properly.

who would vote for an 18 year old? And what life experience does one have at 18? Driving a car? delivering pizzas?

A crazy notion at first glance, it would actually have some positive benefits. Lowering the age of a Presidential Candidate to 18 is a big comedown from , what is it??? 35? This would open up the Presidency to Late teens , all Twenty-somethings and early Thirty year olds. Not necessarily a bad idea. Having a younger Presidential Candidate would realy boost voter participation , interest in politics, and a recognition of the political interests of our younger generation. For them, this would be great, as the Gen- X's now would be more congizent of Politics, what it means, who the players are, how it can influence others etc etc etc..... Of course, no 18 year old would get elected. That's hard to believe. A teen would have to be very mature or highly intelligent to even be seriously considered for the Presidency. No 18 year old would ever run either. Not seriously. A twenty-something candidate though, would be more intriguing and would make for an interesting bridge between the Younger generation and the Older , established generation. Why not an 18 year old presidential candidate? You can vote at 18....Might as well be able to run for Office as well?

Sorry but that's a bad proposal for the U.S. We'd definitely have a date with the end of the world.

Hello, My name is Christopher Alexander McCowan and I am trying to run for President of the United States in 2008 at age 18. It is really hard, it is like I am in a circle because people keep telling me that I can't do it when they have not even heard what I have to say.
