As far as heavy music goes, Few guitarists can compete with Darrel Abbott's crunchy and heavy guitar riffs. Athough Dime didn't play much lead guitar, His rythms were guaranteed to send hundreds of bodies in motion when he played live. In late 2004, Darrel was shot and killed by a mentally ill ex-marine.

Ive heard a shit load of pantera and being a guitarists myself i can tell you dimebag is probably the most underrated guitarist ever. when you've heard every single one of his riffs and solos, you will probably agree hes easily one of if not the greatest guitarist of all time

good guitarists but slightly over rated. most metal guitarists appeal to teeny boppers who know very little about style, technique, & subtly. also,he was a bit heavy handed and repetitive.

He was fully capable of playing the kind of music he was trying to play. I never really paid attention to him until his bizarre and tragic murder. He was a first rate metal guitarist and sold himself short with his cheesy nickname. I wish I hadn't made all of those cheap jokes about his demise.

Dimebag carried the torch of heavy metal guitar into the 90's. He awakened a new generation to aggressive music and laid the foundation on which metalcore is built. At the same time he slipped enough melody in to make the music widely appealing.

one of best all time guitarists --i slighlty biased as i loved pantera and still listen to there music religously excellent all around musician played live great and had more licks and tricks than most playingtoday --he took up where eddie van halen left off only with a harder style--rest in piece --greatly missed

When you hear those chainsaw riffs you know that it can only be one person.... Dimebag Darrell. Dimebag could make his guitar squeal for help and he knew exactly when to do it. Watching and hearing Dime play has influenced me even more to learn guitar, and hopefully get a Dean. Not only can he play his axe like nobody else, but he invented a freakin language all his own, so Getcha'Pull off of that, and if you can't appreciate him then you really need to stop what you're doing and just drop dead! R.I.P. Dime

Tragic concerning his death. Dime was however, just another heavy metal guitarist. Many out there that are much more aggressive.

Im not so impress by Dimebag fidding on his own, I find he kinda loses the touch after a while in his solo if he wouldn't solo ruthlessly so much.

I cant stand screamy crap like pantera but there guitar is awesome cuz of this guy and any man who can make walk seem good even thru the mindless crap is amazing
