Nice arena.  With the recent renovations it has been improved.  Although it did get loud at  times while i was there (state vs UNM the past two seasons), it no-where compares to the PIT's energy and noise.

The State of New Mexico did a wonderful job remodeling an already nice arena in the Pan American Center.  With a roof that covers over 5 acres in size, and a ceiling higher off the floor than any basketball arena in the country the Pan American is a huge open arena that is not crowded and cramped like the Pit at UNM.  Modern with plentyful restrooms easy handicap access and with a bright open concourse that makes access to seating one of the best in the country.   A huge new paved parking lot makes parking easy and free, while at UNM fans must fight for parking on dirt hillsides and arroyos.  The majority of seats are comfortable theater seats while at UNM the Pit has wooden bleachers without any leg room, which is the only reason they can cram 15,000 people into the arena and claim to have 18,000. 

you can tell that the state of New Mexico only cares about one basketball arena, "The Pit."

A great atmosphere to watch a game. used to be a geat team. Will be even better after renovations.
