Red Eye (ball with handles) 5

This sporting goods item most likely sad to say could not even be sold to kids today in this sad world without litigation probably being involved. I do have very fond memories of it , it was made by a company named SUN RUBBER, out of OHIO, which had been around since the 30's but went out of business, in the mid 70's. I found one dated SUN RUBBER 1969, at a garage sale, a few years ago. The Red-eye playballs we had as kids are long gone, can't say for sure what ever happened to them. The thing was a crazy looking yellow rubber or rubber/vinyl playball , but it was not practical in the sense you could not roll it normally like most playballs , nor really throw it, except by one of the spikes, it could hurt sometimes if you tried to kick the thing, or even play catch with it, though I gather this was the object of the "game" with this thing, it had 6 spikes ,two of which were painted red. I was only a kid around 7 or 8 when this CRAZY item must have been sold, so I do not remember any tv commercials about it , or much else except for we had our mom buy it for us when we first saw the Red-eye at our local toy store, and I also remember seeing it in other kids yards as well. I damn sure remember blasting my brother & sister (younger) with it playing in the back yard, dodgeball was way more painful once we began using the Red-eye! I also remember them hitting me with it and , when fully pumped with air, it was inflatable just like a football, or basketball, the Redeye would hurt definitely. We got one or two stuck in our trees for a long time and I remember our mom buying us more than one of these at the local toy/sporting goods store.

"Red Eye, Red Eye, thats the name...grab a red spike and WIN THE GAME!! An appropriate name, considering what type of injury this flying rubber medievel MACE could inflict. Still, some good memories of games going bad and turning into all out warfare.

Does anybody remember these things? They were yellow plastic rubber balls with handles protruding out of them, and 2 of them were red. The idea was to catch it by one of the red handles.
