He had presence. Not tall nor physically impressive. Not goodlooking or overly masculine. Thin hair and the scar on his lip. Lisping, nasal accent. He wasn't even that good an actor. But, he became an icon. For some strange reason, female moviegoers of the 1930s and 40s really liked this guy.

Another odd--I mean cute actor. Not tall, distinguished, or handsome. Not remotely any of the three, but hands down one of the coolest SOB's to grace the silver screen.
