Born Bernie Schwartz in the Bronx, he was almost impossibly good-looking, but unlike a large segment of Hollywood's pretty-boys, he actually was able to manifest talent in his films when so moved ("The Boston Strangler", "Some Like It Hot", "Sweet Smell of Success", "The Defiant Ones", etc.), although he wasn't always so moved ("Sextette" anyone? "The Manitou"?).

I remember thinking he was sexy before I really knew what that meant. He had great eyes and I liked his accent - though in retrospect it came off a bit comical in some of his period pieces...Spahticus. Hee hee.

I guess so, but I can never think of him without hearing his immortal line.

He looked horrible as a woman in "Some Like It Hot" but he looks good as a man.
