I heard people on ESPN drawing parallels between these two. Leinart needs to actually play ball in the NFL and win a ring before I'll start comparing him to anyone who already has a ring. At this point, he is not playing the same game, and that is from a rules standpoint firstly, and froma talent pool secondly. I would like to see Leinart play ball in the NFL and see if he honestly has the talent to keep up with the bigger, faster, and craftier defenses. He may be a Heisman Trophy winner in NCAA Division 1A, but that does not guarantee success in the NFL. I'll reserve the balance of my time on this subject until I see Leinart play NFL football, and not just college ball.

Who's comparing the two? Manning never won a National Championship or a Heisman. Leinhert is a winner though. If anything , he's more Tom Brady than Peyton Manning. He may not have great athletic ability but he WINS. That's what matters.....he's a winner. Fight On 'SC !

Peyton actually lost in his final bowl game too... but come on, Matt Leinart isn't half the talent Peyton Manning was coming out of college and won't be 1/10th the player Peyton is now.

You're right. Manning hasn't won any championships since he played high school ball in New Orleans. The same isn't true of Leinart. Try to look at the bright side, however. Many people are saying that Vince Young would be a lock to replace Reggie Bush as the number one draft choice if he declares for the NFL by the 15th. That being the case, USC's QB would also fall further in the first round because he would not be the first quarterback selected (as was expected until a few days ago). It is even possible that he could tumble down far enough that Denver could select him and the Broncos would then have a chance to escape the notorious big game loser shadow cast by Jake Plummer. And that is the last of my cheap shots on this subject!

They both call alot of stuff at the line, but the compairisons should stop there. Leinart is gonna get beat on for a bit like every other QB when he goes pro.
