 | FranksWildYears (48) 10/05/2006 | A great musical talent who was both ahead of his time and behind it. He started out as a teen idol at a time when that was all the rage, put classic big band pop back on the charts ten years after it was passe, dabbled in socially conscious folk pop and then set the template for the modern day standards crooner. His diversity was his strength, but also the reason he was never taken totally seriously in any one field. If he had stayed healthy and productive, he would have been seen as the father of the modern pop singer who moves between stage, screen and record.
