Ovechkin is an awesome offensive threat for the Capitals. I know it's not true but it seems like he took down the Rangers singlehanded after the Capitals were down three games. Probably one of the most exciting hockey players I've seen in years.

Can skate, shoot, pass, and almost score at will. He's had some amazing goals and has put up some damn good numbers so far in the early stage of his career.I watched him against the Flyers last year in the playoffs and I figured it was only a matter of time until he broke out with a few points.Alexander's future is up to him. . .he could be one of the all-time greats if he holds to form.

Absolutely right, Cyclee. Hockey hasn't had a showman of Ovechkin's caliber since, well maybe ever. Sure Eddie Shack was a goof, but mainly to compensate for a skill level that could only generously described as modest. There have been guys who could generate excitment with their stick, the puck and on their skates. But as a rule, the Gretzky, Lemieux, Howe, Lafleur, Crosby set were completely dispassionate with the crowd. They'd get in-the-zone and you had to be an afficianado of the game to fully appreciate what they were doing. Ovechkin can stand with the greats, so far anyway. He's got the chops as a hockey player, and works the crowd like a wrestler. My only hope is that he doesn't become a sideshow and overshadow what he does for real, drive defensemen crazy and put the puck behind the goalie.

Ovechkin is a good player no doubt, but what I like him the most is his personality. He loves to goof around to rev up the crowd, though sometimes I find it a bit overdone but he doesn't seem to be doing it for his own popularity. From my observation it seems that he just genuienly wants the crowd to have as much fun as he does. When he does something well, he cheers. When he doesn't, he laughs about it, and gives credits to other players who have done better jobs than him.

There is no reason besides hate to give Ovechkin anything other than a 5 star rating. He has been top 4 in goals scored in each of his 4 seasons in the League. Last year he was first in both goals and points, and this year he is first in points and second in points. He is a tough player who truly is fun to watch and undoubtedly one of the best players in the game.

Alexander Ovechkin is an amazing player when he wants to be. What made me like him was the goal he scored lying on his back. Who else could do that? even though I think Crosby's better he defenatly can go somewhere.
