If you're not married, you should use protection, and if you don't, your partner should have the decency to tell you that they have whatever disease.

If they don't use protection they did it to themselves and why should we feel sorry for them. I'm not making a moral comment here, but every action has a consequence. Use your head. The dangers are out there and people know about it. I'm sorry but we should not be having any new cases of AIDS, we know how you get it and how to prevent it. It's not my fault if someone else does something stupid.

I'll have compassion for anybody who contracts AIDS. Nobody deserves that, no matter how stupid they act. But the information is out there. It's just like smoking.

Sure, you should use a condom when you're having extra-marital (or pre-marital sex), but who's to say what brought about this particular situation? Feelings between two who are attracted to each other can flare in a moment's notice and humans are highly sexual creatures. Like anyone sick, they should be given assistance and treatment that could lead to an eventual cure.

I think almost any sick person deserves compassion.I do not think that STDs are "punishment" for lax morals, however.Does this infer that those who screw around and DON"T contract diseases have "gods blessing"? Very fuzzy logic,there....However,anyone who has casual sex these days without protection is STUPID.Yes, STUPID.(It does not take a rocket scientist to find other ways of satisfying the "sexual beast" if no one has a condom.)That does not mean I don't feel sorry for them, though.

I actually don't feel compassion so much as empathy. I know we all fall short of the grace of God. The most important thing here is abstinence, though, not protection. Even condoms can't protect you 100%, and, I'm sure that God would prefer you don't have to use it because you're not breaking a commandment in the first place, but, I'll let God decide wether or not it is deserved. I'm not their judge. If He'll forgive them, what right would I have to say any different. And, of course, on repentence, all is forgiven! Thank God for mercy. I've made plenty of mistakes in my time. I'm sure glad no human is my judge, and, by the way, if you feel you've been punished for something, kiss the paddle. He only chastises those He loves.

My brother said his friends used to laugh at him for using condoms. Some of his friends now have kids.

It could be said that it takes two to tango. The person w/out the STD should be aware that having unprotected sex before marriage is like putting a shotgun to your head, pulling the trigger for the thrill of it in hopes that you draw a blank...it could also be said that if someone knowingly has a loaded shotgun they shouldn't be firing it at people.

Yes, it is a very sad thing. Sometimes it's hard to control the sexual beast within.

We have all sinned and come short of perfection and the glory of GOD, we all need compassion, no compassion or grace is deserved it is given freely because HE gave HIS life for us when we didnt deserve it. Everyone deserves compassion....

I think I may have mentioned this on another list at some point. The human sex drive is a powerful thing. I went through all the years of my active youth and never came across a partner who demanded a contrceptive. This was in the days when aids was at its highest awareness, the late eighties and early nineties, and I am not proud to admit that I had probably upside of a hundered partners in a span of 6-7 years. I think I remember 1 or 2 asking if I had one and we went right ahead without it. I dont believe most folks who claim they are using protection every time, I think its just what is supposed to be fashionable. I will never blame a human being for being just that..a human. I thank God every day now that I survived those days, and that he did not decide to punish me for my selfish and reckless ways.
