ant farms are cool to watch i must admit but they are suppose to be in wild to help other ants move food and help with survivul.

I agree that an ant farm is not a pet but still they can be interesting. I had one as a kid. I'm not sure whatever happened to it.

They live for short periods of time, and live better in the wild, then in a ant farm.

They make ok starter pets, I suppose though.

Always wanted one, but I didn't know the ants only live a few weeks!
And, no queen?
How do the ants function?
Do they select a queen, then -- choosing, grooming, and providing her with extra food?
But, that takes time doesn't it?
More than a few weeks, I suppose.
Hmmm.

They don't come with queens so they're not that cool. You can easily feed them with table scraps.
