 | jason1006 (0) 02/13/2007 | George Wallace was a racist and a segregationist. However, history shows that he changed. You can't call him a terrible person without looking at others in history who hated and then later changed. What about Malcolm X??? He was just as openly anti-white and then after excommunication from the Nation of Islam and then his travels to Mecca he changed some of his view points. Although, he would not allow white people to join his newly founded Muslim Mosque, he would accept assistance from whites and from other black civil rights leaders that he labeled "uncle Toms". Now, I have a lot of respect for a person who can stand up in public like Malcolm X and George Wallace and say that they were wrong and have changed. Everyone on here do some research on the later life of George Wallace and you will see that he changed and later did more for blacks in Alabama than a lot of people give him credit for.
Good thing everyone remembers Paul, from the Bible, as St. Paul and not as Saul who ordered the deaths of Christians. Paul later lead thousands to CHRIST and wrote 2/3 of the New Testament. People can change.

 | Drummond (54) 01/17/2006 | Not quite as psychotic as nutcases like Bull Connor, but still rates high up there in bad moments for white people. He did turn it around though. Even met with and endorsed Jesse Jackson in 1988.

 | oscargamblesfro (76) 01/16/2006 | A free poster of Oscar Gamble himself ( YEAH THAT'S NOT MUCH OF A PRIZE I KNOW, BUT I'M A TAD BEREFT OF INSPIRATION JUST NOW) that somebody on here, and not a 12 year old or a member of a hate group either, some objectively at least decent writer to boot, comes on here and defends this vile bag of dung in his PRE- WHEELCHAIR incarnation, Canadasucks...

 | Djahuti (54) 01/16/2006 | Wallace was at one time an undisguised bigot. He was pro-segregation in the "good ole boy" tradition. However,he did change his tune somewhat later in life and the actions of one cretin are no reflection on others of the same skin color unless they support him.

 | CanadaSucks (45) 01/16/2006 | He called himself a democrat, but there was nothing democratic about good ol' George. . .never saw a segregation law that he didn't love with almost sexual abandon. . .shamed us all and apparently someone didn't care for him too much.
