Although it is fun to watch their different stages of life, I could never imagine keeping such a beautiful creature trapped in a cage when it is meant to live among the flowers.

They look beautiful and nice to see fly, outdoors.

That's why they belong, outdoors.

I'm with puppylover on this one. Butterflies are not meant to be caged and kept as pets. I'm also with her on viewing metamorphosis, but certainly not by means of caging them.

Why is this even under pets? No offence, but I highly doubt a butterflt will make a good pet. They are not ment to be trapped in a cage and to do so is just cruel. I can however, see watching larvae turn into cacoons and then into butterflys and then releasing them. But to keep a butterfly as a pet is not only stupid, but it is just plain wrong.

These butterfly kits(you can catch your own, though)are generally low-quality, but if you pay enough attentoin to your butterflie's needs, this will be a fun and educational expieience.
