for the most part. a kid can get hurt so fast, and yes even die because if it.some of the most responsible parents still can have something tragic happen to their child. they could go to a pool down the street, or get out when the parent is dozing. I feel bad for them because they are going have to live with this for the rest of their lives. not all of those parents are irresposible.

Yes, I feel some sympathy in these situations. No one buys a pool to drown children. Sometimes people have actually purchased a safety gate/barrier but unwittingly left it unlocked when these tragedies take place. A gun is one thing. Everyone knows that guns can kill. If you leave one out loaded and unlocked where kids can gain access to it, you probably shouldn't have had children in the first place. A pool, however, can be more of an unsuspected trap. Either way, I certainly feel sorry for the deceased child. But that type of guilt carried by a parent ... I wouldn't wish it upon my worst enemy.

This is another case of plain ole weak parenting in most cases. It just makes sence that you dont take your eyes off a toddler, especially if there is a pool out back! No Toddler should set foot OUTSIDE unless they are closely supervised. The first mistake is letting a 2-5 year old kid out of line of sight in the first place. Pool or not.
