in their minds those barriers are there just to make their life difficult so around they go and think they will make it through. now they are stuck. we had a picture in our local paper of a man who went around a barrier when they had just poured cement in the road, that car sunk right up to the bumpers with him sitting inside the car looking real ticked. too bad for him. bet the insurance will give him heat for that.

Assumption of risk. They knowingly gambled and they lost. Difficult for me to generate a great deal of sympathy in these circumstances.

As someone who is planning to go into the TV weather business, I have to say that I've heard a hundred times during severe weather coverage, "If you can't judge the depth of water, DON'T drive into it." It's very simple. Also, if it's raining extremely hard--take the advice of meterologists and PULL over. I've heard of an actual story of someone simply driving around a barrier, getting trapped under an overpass and complaning that the sign wasn't big enough or something along those lines. BUT, perhaps they were trying to rescue someone else--if that's the case, then I can certaintly forgive them.

Good one IJR...I cuss and ridicule these types whenever I see them. Ive never understood people who have the ability to gamble with Mother nature and her strength. Water/current is an awesome power that most of us cannon imagine. I never have. And the ones who have family members in the car really deserve a butt kicking!
