The promotion of freedom is one ideal that is worth exporting, along with free market capitalism. American culture today isn't like it was back in the day, its not something I'd go out of my way to promote.

If other countries want to be like the United States, then they will imitate us. There is no need to shove America down their throats.

SZinhonshu it is an error to beleive what you state as American culture. What you beleive that is called American culture is in fact Western culture. America was a major country in the development of western culture but there are many countries apart who helped promote it. every country has their culture and tradition and wouldnt want to be a clon of the US.

CastleBee, if you truly believe that many people do not want to become Americanized clones, you haven't travelled abroad enough. American pop culture and manifestations of our way of life are omnipresent around the globe and the masses can't consume it quickly enough to satisfy their taste for it. America's most potent force is not her missles, tanks, jets or other tools of war. It is her image in the eyes of the Have Nots ... and a lot of the Haves, too. If I was a member of the Taliban, I'd be plotzing in my pants. There are as few things as intoxicating on such a broad scale as the perceived American way of life, which certainly does not include harnessed public expression and gender discrimination (key components of the Muslim world). Don't kid yourself. Go travel around a bit ... anywhere you like. Americanism and indications of it are found almost everywhere.

If this is true, I would say it may not be one of our best points. I honestly don't remember hearing anyone say they wanted to become Americanized clones. I think everyone might be better served if we were able to calmly appreciate our differences and not try to socially or culturally evangelize the world.

Yeah, this generates great favor among the rest of the worlds' cultures. People love being told what to do, especially at gunpoint.
