Not surprising because Frank Zappa himself is weird.

I love that name. It's so 1960s. Back in the 80s, I read Pamela Des Barres book "I'm with the band". She used to be a Zappa prodigy as well as babysitter to Moon and Dweezil. But she was also friends with other counter culture icons of the LA scene. I specifically remember her talking about one artsy Hollywood couple (can't recall the names) who had a baby and named it "Groovy Nipple". I think that is the ultimate wierd name. Hillarious.

Ok I thought like Erwin and Edwinda were funny names but Moon Unit??? Imagine going to school and your name tag says "Hello! My Name Is Moon Unit!" Some serious laughing and pant-wetting will accur.

Zappa was the original creator of bizarre celebrity baby names, and I think this is the ultimate name. Others have tried, but I don't think anybody has surpassed Moon Unit in terms of wacky names.
