The word can only serve to make one appear uneducated. The word 'converse' works just fine.

I specifically remember, oh about 10 years ago, hearing a basketball color man who was calling a college game remark that one of the teams' coaches had called a time out so that he could "conversationalize" with his players. I also remember being glad that I had not graduated from either school being represented on the court or the announcer's alma mater.

I hate to see a misused word justified in English, but Conversate might have to be the exception. There are people who have poor grammatical skills or are just ignorant and use the word Conversate instead of Converse when talking. It's annoying to anyone educated who knows. There are people who have a formal education who misuse the word. It might be easier for all to just make the word Conversate an official word. Get rid of Converse. Converse is the name of a sneaker.
