It's the NFL so it is always significant (TV ratings prove it year in and year out). The game was dull and that's why I rate it as a "3".

The Steelers run to the Lombardi Trophy was highly improbable. They were on the fringe of not making the playoffs if not for a late-season surge. I think the Bengals would have beaten the Steelers had Carson Palmer not been injured. Then the Colts pick up Bettis' fumble and would have scored, had the guy running the ball not been shived by his wife the night prior. The fact that the Steelers gave the officiating crew the Super Bowl game ball is yet another reason why this is only a 4-star event.

Not a Steeler fan but I was glad for The Bus.

The Super Bowl is always a significant event. Although the game wasn't great, the champion is one of the NFL's greatest franchises with one of the largest fan bases.

Not only the quality of play, but the quality of the officiating. Not only was the game lack-luster, I really think the Seahawks got the short end of the stick. No, they weren't cheated, but it came pretty close. They were playing a better game all around and had TWO tuchdowns called back. Then of course, there's the Steelers touchdown that "broke the plane". Well, it was darned close. I'f I was there I probably wouldn't have called it back, but then, I wouldn't have called back the 2 for Seattle either.

It was interesting to see two non-favorites get in but that was one of the sloppiest NFL games I have seen in memory ... let alone for a championship. And all of the Bettis worship that went on left me a bit flat. I was rooting for Seattle simply because it seemed like the networks would love to just had him the trophy for a series of heart-tugging (and in my mind, nauseating) photo ops. The caliber of play was such that it felt like I was watching a USFL championship game.

I was rooting for the Seahawks albeit not heavily, the referees were dreadful and the game was one of the worst ones in recent memory.

This is the best sixth seed to play in any playoffs and speaks well to the overall strength of the AFC. I anticipate a beatdown for the Seahawks.
