At least teens, when they drink, they act dumb, and silly, and yes I been there. When adults tend to drink, they beat and rape women, not all, but I seen to many violent cases from adults that do gross things, as kids just act stupid, but true, many a drunken teens, killed a many people on our highways.......Drinking is ok, Drunkeness is not..

So, I really don't see why people drink anyway; but I don't have ANY room for dealing with teens drinkers. I was never the party-type and I made a point to avoid the types that did (at least those with excessive habits). There may be worse things that kids could do, but it doesn't make this one any less stupid.

I drink to celebrate or have a good time with my friends. It's true that some people seem to get dumber when they have a few drinks in them but thankfully my friends and myself aren't part of that crowd.

Naturally, since it was *illegal* to do so at my age, I never consumed any alcohol during my entire teenage life. Another bad thing to do. Alcohol causes all kinds of bad and/or stupid things to happen.

Kids, we know you are gonna drink. It's hard to convince you to stop when it is such a part of our culture. But two little hints: 1. Never drink so much you lose control of yourself. Lots of bad things can and will happen you when you do this. Drinking is about having fun, not seeing who can drink the most. 2. Don't drive. Your life could be over, or you could kill someone else. I lost one of my best friends from high school because he passed out behind the wheel. He was going to be a doctor. He died during winter break during his first year of college. His mother never recovered from the loss. My brother (who was even closer to him) was never the same after that either. What a huge waste...

Wha? I drank because I wanted to try and enjoy the experience. .. I didn't give a rat's ass about what my classmates thought was 'cool'. . .I was going to college and didn't care about them anyways. . .

I think part of the problem is that all teens feel immortal. I started drinking at 17 and never felt bad about it, because it was socially sanctioned (as opposed to drugs like marijuana) and everyone else I knew or hung out with was drinking also. Ah, if only we as teens could have looked into the future...One of our group died of a heart attack in his late 30's after 20 years of struggling with alcohol and drug addiction. Another member of the group has just had a son and is belatedly considering entering re-hab (in the mid 80s, he crashed his car into a telephone pole and had to have his face reconstructed). Still another member supposedly goes through a bottle of Vodka a day (at least that's what I hear). I don't drink like I used to, thankfully, but it's an ongoing struggle. The depressing part of it is that no matter how much you preach to kids about the potential dangers involved, I really don't think they'll listen. It wasn't as if we weren't preached to, or given information. I remember when I was in high school, they had an assembly where we were lectured to by recovered alcoholics. We listened, absorbed what they said, then went out on our lunch hour and scored a 6-pack of beer. After all, we weren't alcoholics. We were just kids...

Hey, this continues for as long as you serve if you join the Marines! Seriously, though, kids in school and Jarheads alike do some truly stupid things when they drink.

As someone who's experienced the negative effects of a drinking problem starting early is probably a very poor decision. Teenagers who drink are 1000% more likely to develop drinking problems when they get older. I personally didn't start drinking until I was 19 but by the time I was 27 I was drinking over a case a beer a day. Now, many people can drink and never develop a problem and that's fine- but drinking to look cool or be cool when you're younger and less emotionally developed just increases the chances you become a raging alcholic like me years later when the toll on your life becomes great: crashed cars, arrests, criminal records, bankruptcies, lost scholastic opportunities, lost income, ruined relationships, and various near death experiences then become the only thing to set you straight if you don't die first. Not so cool in retrospect.

Parents really need to educate their kids on this kind of behavior.
