The trait of egotism, regardless of age, is both dumb and uncool. Fat with pride? The humble pie diet is best. But don't expect it to be too delicious.

I think this is something like birds and cats fluffing up their feathers and fur to look larger than they are when they are actually terrified. The older you get the less seriously you take this affectation.
