I think that kids actually do this with cell phones. In fact, I think that they HAVE to do it, because it helps them to keep their balance. If you took a cell phone away from a walking teenager, they'd fall over like a tipped cow...

Man, the cell phone companies, they are raking in some dough in the 21st century, aren't they?

Normal behavior, and seems to be more common among girls than boys. Not anything I did too terribly much, but then again, I was extremely shy. And some people falsely translate "shy" to mean "weird".

This isn't so bad, to a degree. I did this when I was a teen and I'm a guy. This girl "friend" and I would talk for hours, we'd do our homework together over the phone, talk about life, our hobbies. We didn't do it to gossip and so on. I also was not allowed to go out on school nights so this was the only way I could talk to my friend.

This is how I know the rumor that cell phone usage causes brain tumors is false. If this were true, there would be a sea of teenage bodies from coast to coast by now.

I've seen plenty of alleged 'adults' do this as well. . .

My buddy Teds girlfriend's teenage daughter does this. Ted tries to disipline her,but his girlfriend always lets her daughter have her way. She is sometimes still on the phone past 11 o'clock on school nights. Her grades in school suffer terribly because of this. Ted got the phone bill once, and she racked up over 1000 calls in one month. He said only about 4 of those calls were his. If i was Ted, i would be placing a time limit on that phone which would not allow any phone chat past 9:30 PM on school nights. This child needs disipline now. She does not need to always have her way. This is preparation for her to get her ready for the real world. Me and Ted look at this topic differently than his girlfriend does. Maybe because telephone chat is a normal habit for females, and we look at it differently since we were social turds in high school. Ted now had his phone shut off for some time due to money issues. I guess it was suppose to be turned back on, but time goes by. He said he hardly misses it.

Something we've probably done as kids.
