Fred Zinnemann directed this 1953 film adaptation on the Novel by James Jones on the lives of A group of people in Pearl Harbor up to the attack- and during. Brilliant performances by all. Montgomery Clift gives a sensitive introverted characterization, while Burt Lancaster is powerful and expansive (both where nominated for best actor) Frank Sinatra and Donna Reed won Oscars for their supporting roles. Won a carload of awards- including best picture and best director for Zinnemann.

Famous for the making out in the waves scene satirized in Airplane and many other comedy skits. Incredible cast. Great story set at Pearl Harbor just before the attack. All the elements of a classic, with enough fighting to keep a guy's attention through all the yucky kissing and stuff.
