I am a pariah on this, but this is not a proper area of study. It is too limited. Perhaps as a speciality study for a short period of academic time, that would be fine.

This is one lesson that we need to pay attention to instead of ignoring it because it makes us uncomfortable. If we sweep this under the rug it just makes it easier to do again, so watch the footage and wince when you see the horrible things we can do to each other. You may learn something.

I've just finished watching a series about the death camps and how they were set up expressly to kill as many people as quickly and effiently as possible. Two hundred thousand children alone died in one such place! Even more horriflying, is that 90% of the SS soldiers running these places melted away after the war, never to face a trial or any punishment.

Starting with the Christian pogroms around Easter time in Europe throughout the middle ages and later. Should not be taught as an isolated event in history. It can happen again. Historyfan - Chomsky does not deny the holocaust. He supports the first amendment rights of those who do, and believes the issue should be discussed in a calm academic manner. There's a difference.

I'd be more interested if it was a part of a class that covered the entire scope of WWII or Early 20th century European history. . .

Holocaust deniers should take this class to re-think their beliefs...which I think would be fruitless because no matter how much evidence goes to show they're wrong, they won't relent. This is one of the reasons why I dislike people like Noam Chomsky.
