Eat Organic Foods 5

Actually, organic produce has come a long way. It's mass produced now, and they have developed strains that are resistant to pests and disease, and look just fine. In fact, I prefer an apple that isn't waxed shiny. What's more interesting is that the prices of organics are falling as economies of scale rise with resistant strains. Pesticides actually cost money. I've run into numerous situations where the organic choice is actually cheaper than the "conventional" choice. What's more, because organics tend to be grown by small farmers, they tend to have more flavor even if the appearance isn't quite as pristine. But then, I live in the organic capitol of the world. Update: As of today, the organic bananas at my local store are 3 cents less a pound than conventional.

An apple is an apple. It doesn't make any difference to me. They taste the same.

A study by the EPA published in 2005 measured pesticide levels in 23 children before and after eating an organic diet. After 5 days of eating organic, the childrens levels of specific markers for commonly used pesticides were dramatically reduced.A lot of pesticides are toxic to the brain.Organic foods are also free of Hormones,Antibiotics and other neurotoxins. There is a very informative article on this subject in the February edition of "Consumer Reports",which goes on to tell you what foods are worth buying organic and what ones are not.If you don't believe that pesticides are dangerous, read the warnings on a can of RAID or an insect killing fogger.

If you could grow your own, you could be sure it wasn't getting the chemical pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, etc., that would be great. On the other hand, I've seen products on the market, claiming to be health food, only to read the ingredients and say " Ugh! ". The other problem is, like Shane said, the price!
