 | Djahuti (53) 01/31/2006 | Meditation has been proven to reduce stress and to enhance mental clarity.I disagree that prayer is interchangable with meditation:the object of meditation is total suspension of the thought process-praying involves concentartion on words,and therefore,although it may have spiritual and/or psychological benefits-it is not the same as meditation.Meditation does not require any specific spiritual beliefs,anyone can meditate:Christian,Jew,Moslem,Buddhist,Agnostic,Athiest,Pagan etc.The important thing here is the RESULTS.Those who practice regular meditation report a multitude of life enhancing benefits.For something that only requires a place to sit or lie quietly for 20 minutes or more,and costs nothing-it is a valuable and often overlooked asset for all people.
