08/08/2006 | This is a true story. Irv Garcelon, Fred deGraffenreid and I were in the secluded little nook behind the front bar in Murphys' Strip Bar and Armenian Grill. It was Battle of the Boyne Day, and as I have stated before, Phil Murphy, founder of the joint, was an Orangeman.
His grandson, Reggie Murphy, was behind the bar and setting them up for us in honor of King Billy.
Reggie is a distrustful sort and has a double barrel coach gun with twenty inch barrels, loaded with double ought buck, handy behind the bar.
We didn't hear anything until the "BOOM!"
It appears that a holdup man came in, brandishing a handgun, accosted Reggie, and the last words that the holdup man uttered were, "Gimme yo' cash or I'm gonna cap yo' *ss!"
The police stated that it was the third de-capping that Reggie had handled.
