People, how many bull's do you see on a cattle farm? One? Two? How many, "lower appendages" does each bull have? The idea that all bully sticks are the sexual organ of a bull is a myth. They're just aren't enough appendages out there to stock all the pet shops in the US. They're actually made out of tendons and ligaments, but bully sounds much more appealing than tendon stick. PS-Make sure to watch your dog any time you give them one. Happy treating!

Pizzle! My dog loves Pizzle! When I first learned of what the heck a bully stick actually was I laughed hysterically, but was so happy my dog actually likes them. I have a very picky Chorkie with bad teeth. I have tried all types of treats and chew toys for him, but he didn't take to anything. A co-worker gave me a piece of bully stick for my picky pup to try and after a week of sniffing and rubbing on it he finally tried it. I could not get him to get it out of this mouth! I was so shocked that he liked it, especially after I learned what it was! This is the perfect alternative to raw hides! I am so happy these exist, and so is my Pizzle eating pup!

An awesome alternative to nasty rawhide!
I love the idea of using all parts of the animal for dog chewing/treats (as long as they are natural and safe!)Merrick has some neat products (besides their rawhide) like natural dehydrated pig hearts, lamb lung, flossies, etc. I work at a pet health food store and we sell bully sticks like crazy!

They're disgusting. That being said my dogs love them and go through about 8 a week (more if I would give them more), but the rawhide chew I bought for them a year ago is still lying around somewhere. The great thing is I've never had to get their teeth cleaned - and that is worth the unpleasantness of the smell (and knowing what it is).

Bully sticks are a fabulous chew. They are high in protein, low in fat and they do not contain all the chemicals of raw hide. They come apart layer by layer and are less likely to come off in large peices and get stuck in your dog's throat. They are also stinkier than rawhides which is a plus from your dog's point of view. My Lola doesn't do well when given rawhide- it gives her diarrhea, but she has no trouble tolerating bully sticks. Plus, I've yet to meet a dog that doesn't like them. Word of caution, a bully stick is a beef tendon and most are actually made of steer penis- hense "bully" stick. Happy chewing!

Dogs love them but like anything else you don't want to overdo and don't leave them with dogs unattended...the shape allows for dislodgement in the mouth or throat.

I'm sure they're just fine for dogs but I'm sorry, this and all the other body part treats just seem creepy and sad to me.

Just great!!! 100 times better than rawhide. However be carefull of the brands the sell them. Red Barn is the way to go as far as brans of Bully Sticks. Some companies don't cook them right and they could end up smelling really bad. Otherwise, all around great chewy treat.
