Yeah, it's mainly the hair that gets Oscar on the list. That's why I think that OSCARGAMBLESFRO is a cool name 'cause you can definately only get one mental picture. How'd he get that helmet on over all of that stuff? Maybe somebody should call themselves HENRYSTUCKYSFRO or ARTISGILMORESDO!!!

Some of you may have wondered what the hell my moniker means, particularly if you're not baseball fans. Gamble was a pretty good left handed power hitter with The Yankees and various other clubs from the late 60's until the mid 80's, his best year was probably 1977 with the White Sox in which he hit 31 homers, but was generally a platoon player. Now, I hate the Yankees ( I get the feeling that Steinbrenner makes his players swear allegiance to him just like Hedley LaMarr in "Blazing Saddles,"" I , STATE YOUR NAME, swear allegiance to George Steinbrenner and the evil for which he stands...) but always liked this guy. A friend of mine when I was a kid, an always lucky sort, caught a ball hit by Gamble circa 1982. There was nothing particularly interesting about Gamble's personality, he was really just a pretty good bench player/ platoon guy/ semi-regular for the most part, EXCEPT for Oscar Gamble's afro, which was the size of a moon of Saturn, and would put Billy Preston circa 1974 or the guy on the Harlem Globetrotters cartoon who kept tools and boats in it to shame.
