How could you not include a guy who used to talk to the ball? A 1 year wonder, but a great character.

The "Bird" was a rare breed indeed in 1976 when he flew down among us and perched in Detroit. Along with a little gardening, a little talking to the ball, and little extra flair on the mound, we got to see 19-9, 2.34, and 24 complete games! Just when it appeared that this as no apparition, one of his wings failed him and the Bird was grounded. This guy would have fit right in with Lee and those screwballs in Boston. He was great fun to watch and good for the game. It was baseball's loss when his career was cut short.
