As a B&W photo, this has incredible power.  White dress and stockings.  Dark uniform and white hat.  This is one reason why this photo has had legs.

Very memorable Hollywood-esque photo op for some lucky photographer.  He/she was probably turning inside out with the realization that this one was going to sell big time.  Yeah, end of the war and I'm sure everyone was in a mood for celebrating in every way possible...something that does not always require such a momentous occasion to involve the gleeful participation of sailors.

very famous photo.  Okay I guess. suppose it was nice for the  times . more of a would feel more for it if I had been alive at the time.
