I am getting on a bit in years, but cannot resist a new razor. I have been using a Gillette M3Power for some while and except for one other, have found it the best shave so far. I was a scientist so do daft things like shaving one side of my face with the power on and the other side with it off. To be honest, power on, is only marginally better (lasts longer) and that might be because I am better at shaving one side of my face. However, I decided on the Power version of the fusion, which comes in both powered and not powered versions. If Gillette engineers do not win awards for design and engineering I am very surprised. The actual razors themselves are masterpieces of craftsmanship, but the case, and the whole package is astounding. Shaving: Fusion uses 5 + 1 blades. Five on the front and one on the back. It has finally dawned on someone at Gillette that as the number of blades increases, so it becomes impossible to shave under the nose and that little 'Kirk Douglas' dimple in the chin. The single blade works, but the whole idea of having to create it suggests an odd way of thinking. The 5 (FIVE) blades on the working face shave well, too well in fact. Today (day 2) I shaved with a gel and my face is very sore - very smooth, but sore. Yesterday I used shaving oil and still felt that the top layer of my skin had been scraped off. Oh dear! The competition between Gillette and Schick/Wilkinson has made both of them blind to the basics of what they are about. A razor should remove bristles from faces (and legs) leaving them smooth for as long as possible, but not sore. They should not need to vibrate/rotate and should get into the nooks and crannies which make up our faces. Lubrication strips are very nice at the start (the M3Power aloe vera one was brilliant for three days at the most), but they don't last the three weeks or more I expect from a blade. Indeed the blue stuff is wearing off this razor after only two days. Earlier in this report I mentioned that I had a favourite razor from an earlier time. It was the SENSOR, (not the Sensor Excel which added a lubricant strip to prevent the razor from getting under my nose). It had two blades and swivelled in the middle and not at the bottom like the recent ones. I threw mine away (fool) and cannot find a replacement. Even if I could, I cannot get Sensor blades; Excel yes, Sensor no. I also see that I can get a Sensor disposable (do you think they realized too late that it was the best one they made?), but then stuck three blades in it just when I was beginning to think that they had got it right. Will I go on using Fusion? I think not! Too fierce for me and 4 replacement blades cost 9.99 here in the UK, which is twice as dear as M3Power and they were too expensive anyhow

the only reason i have a nice razor is because my mom bought it for me. 5 blades? with a 6th on the back? give me a 59 cent bic.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZ Is the commercial over yet? I don't have facial hair so I don't give a flying gopher's crap about shaves.

Gillette perfected the razor a couple of years back with the Mach 3 Turbo. I tried the Fusion and the only improvement is the single blade on the rear for shaving under the nose. Yes all these Gillette blades are pricy but for me they last a month and shave oh so close.

Wow! I figured they would jump from 3 blades to 4, but 6!? This is a great advance in technology folks! Sigh... Zuchinibut is right... This thing looks like a gimmick, and there was nothing to the commercial.

Call me when I can just press a button and my face will be smooth. All of the gimmicky razors are getting pretty old, and the commerical for this was weak.

boxnbullride, my sentiments exactly. Mach 3 blades are pricy enough. I can't even imagine the damage a 6-blade razor would do to my wallet.

What is the damn point? "I can butcher this meat after I'm done shaving!"
