A very long and sometimes majestic river. The river's name changes from country to country (Donau, Duna, etc). Aside from the song, there is nothing "blue" about the Danube - it's always looked a bit muddy to me. As Genghis has noted, there is plenty of history along the river, and plenty of beautiful cities and towns along it as well.

This is probably the most important and historical river in Europe. It starts in the Black Forest of southwest Germany, just a few miles from the Rhine and proceeds east and south to the Black Sea. It passes through the capitals of four different countries and has been the site of several major battles and diplomatic arrangements. (Vienna, Bratislava, Budapest and Belgrade are the capital cities.) Few if any other rivers have seen such important achievements.
