I think as a first name it sounds a bit dated but would sound nice as a middle name especially if its honoring someone special to you.

A good first name. Good , solid name. Cant go wrong with it. Russ sounds like a cool guy. I guy you'd want to have a beer with.

Russell is my late grandfather's name, and he was a man I looked up to a lot. I want to honor my grandfather by using his name, but I think I like Russell as more of a middle name than a first name.
