Good name. Solid. Has both Biblical and "Olde" Yankee/American roots. My four brothers and I are all named right out of the Bible simply because my mother thought they were good strong names. As for a nickname, well.. you don't need one if you've already got a nice short name. Only two of the five of us got a nickname.. in my case only because Jedediah is too much of a mouthful to use on a regular basis.

Isaiah is a favorite name of mine. It is a classic name, yet isn't overused or overly simple. The one drawback that I foresee is that there aren't any standard nicknames for Isaiah. Matthew has Matt, Michael has Mike, Timothy has Tim, etc. What does Isaiah have...Ish?
