 | irishgit (146) 10/12/2007 | Came to the throne as a 10 year old boy, utterly under the control and influence of several powerful, and often divergently ambitious advisors.
As an adult, he proved incapable of the kind of compromise, deal-making and "benign treachery" which was the mark of a successful monarch of his era. His occasional attempts at toughness were laughable.
Ultimately deposed, and probably murdered, succeeded by the much more ruthless and capable Henry IV.
