If it has anything to do with seafood, forget it.

This is a South Asian sauce made from fermented fish. It is used in just about everything and is not as bad as it sounds.

I was interested to note that the Romans also made this sauce. Vats and containers of fish sauce were found at Pompeii and indeed, it was made from fermented fish!

The excavators found lots of fish bones in the bottom of the vats! The sauce is mild.

My roommate cooks with this stuff, and after he's done the apartment stinks of the horrible fish sauce and coconut milk combination for several hours.
