3.5, a fine fielder and contact hitter, not much power, regularly hit over 300, and was a good baserunner too. Primarily played with The Phillies before ending with the original Mets of 1962.

Whitey was apparently a heck of center fielder, and possibly an even better broadcaster. I grew up to the sounds of Whitey and Harry Kalas broadcasting Phillies games. Sadly, Whitey passed away while still at the top of his (broacasting) game. He was found dead of natural causes in his hotel room during a road trip. But then again, maybe it's no so bad to go out on top.
