 | Vudija (100) 02/11/2006 | Prior to the 1943 eruption; this volcano did not exist. Because of it's ususual finding; it is featured on several "Seven Natural Wonders of the World" lists. Earthquakes were felt for weeks prior; on Feb 20th, a farmer in the village witnessed the ground opening in his corn field. By June 12th, the first lava flow was nearing the small Mexican village so the village evacuated. By July, the next city was evacuated and both were eventually abandoned after being buried under lava deposits and ash. After all of this, not one person was ever reported injuried, missind, or dead due to the volcano itself. It is said that 3 people DID die from a lightning stike that could have been associated with it though.
