The Mechanical Man. Said hello at the start of the season, goodbye at the end of the season...and in between, hit .330. One guy that I believe could excel in any era, and the type of player that we need more of today. Not a big HR hitter, but lots of RBI and hits, great fielding percentage, and didn't strike out much. Efficient and productive, Gehringer got it done. One that I would love to have seen play.

One of the half dozen or so greatest 2b ever, actually underappreciated and underrated by many, a longtime star of the Tigers from the mid 20's until the early 40's. 4.5 stars.
