 | scarletfeather (53) 07/08/2008 | The only time I watch it is if I'm invited to a Super Bowl party. I'm not a big sports fan.

 | irishgit (155) 07/08/2008 | I have missed about a third of them.
And I'm more than ok with that.
And yes, I am a football fan. I'm just not a "hype" fan

 | lmorovan (19) 07/08/2008 | In my case, the question would be "watch the Super Bowl". Honestly, I am not a football fan, so I am neither much into it, nor do I have any reference point to rate anything that has to do with the sport.

and upon reading some of the other reviews, apparently I'm not alone.

 | GenghisTheHun (181) 02/01/2008 | An older gentleman had 50 yard line tickets for the Super Bowl. As he sits down, a lady comes down and asked the old gent if anyone is sitting in the seat next to
him.
"No", he said, "the seat is empty".
"This is
incredible", said the woman. "Who in their right mind would have a seat
like this for the Super Bowl , the biggest sport event in the world, and
not use it ?"
Somberly, the old guy says, "Well... the seat actually
belongs to me. I was supposed to come here with my wife, but she passed
away. This is the first Super Bowl we have not been together since we got
married in 1955."
"Oh I'm sorry to hear that. That's terrible.
But couldn't you find someone else - a friend or relative or even a
neighbor to take the seat?"
The oldster shakes his head, "No. They're
all at the funeral."

 | twansalem (44) 07/07/2007 | The only time that I turn the channel to the Super Bowl is to see if it's over. Occasionally in this process I end up watching a couple of minutes. Other than that, I tend to make it a habit to not watch the Super Bowl. It's a great time to head to the gym and shoot some hoops. In addition, if you ever have to drive somewhere during the Super Bowl, the roads are pretty much empty, you might have to share the road with an occasional trucker, but other than that you own the road. Plus my roommate usually leaves town that weekend to watch the game with some friends, so the apartment is mine. There are a lot of good side effects of the Super Bowl, however you can only benefit from them by not watching the game.

 | edt4 (115) 02/23/2007 | I'm with Randyman on this one. For whatever reason, I just never acquired an interest in sports. My Dad is and always was a good guy, but I think he used to despair at my lack of interest in the football and baseball games he brought me to when I was a child (he's a passionate Giants fan). We'd go to West Point, which I loved, but it wasn't because of the game. It was because of the beautiful scenery, the nice drive up, etc. In school, I never learned the mechanics of playing football. In gym class, when we were forced to play, I'd wait until the Quarterback called out, "Hike!" then run like hell in any direction where it appeared as if I could avoid getting hit and squashed by someone weighing a hundred pounds or more than I did. This lack of interest in or knowledge of the game has carried over into my adult life. However, having friends who ARE into football, I sometimes have to make an accommodation and bite the proverbial bullet. Like the last Superball. I was invited to a party and, not wanting to appear a complete misanthrope, decided to go. I nursed a beer all night and pretended I was very interested in what was occurring on-screen. I did this so no one would ask me questions I couldn't answer. Sometimes, someone would make a remark about the record or accomplishments of a particular player, and I would nod my head knowingly as if in agreement. As the jello shots were passed around, and everyone became progressively drunker (maybe I'm getting more mature in my old age, or just can't handle the debilitating hang-overs anymore; for whatever reason, I abstained), I was able to relax, and drop the facade. But it was uncomfortable overall. I had no real conception about what was happening on the screen, other than one group of overpaid beefy guys were trying to get the ball over the End Zone of those other overpaid beefy guys; someone's drunken wife kept trying to engage me in conversation, which was uncomfortable with her husband sitting across the room; and I had to sit through Billy Joel to boot! (Side note: Billy is not aging well, but then he might say the same thing if he saw me.) Like Randyman, it was basically very boring to me, and thankfully I'll have a whole year pass before I have to subject myself to that again.

 | Randyman (113) 02/23/2007 | Not only would I not watch a Super Bowl game, but I have never watched a football game period, I've tried, but I lose interest after a few minutes. Come Super Bowl time, people just start talking to me about this player or that team or whatever, I get that blank stare in my face and try my best to at least look interested, eventually I just ask them to "save their breath, I don't follow football". Nine out of ten people look at me like I'm nuts. Maybe I am, I don't know. It just bores me.

 | louiethe20th (80) 08/05/2006 | I never miss the big game, but the commercials have been really lacking the last few years. They were usually really good.

 | hotel283 (20) 04/06/2006 | The Superbowl is anti-climactic for me. Last years game was alright (I like the Steelers a bit) and the Rams/Patriots clash in 2002 was exciting but every other recent game has been a yawner. The commercials are the true highlight....AND THEY DON'T EVEN SHOW THEM IN CANADA (f#?$#@g CRTC).
It always lacks the intensity of the playoff games leading up to it. Also, I think it sucks that they always play the game in a dome or a warm climate. I'd love to see a Superbowl game in Green Bay or Buffalo in late January - it would add another element to the game.

 | minkey (40) 04/02/2006 | Of course I'm going to watch it. It's the one thing on all year that I would not miss. What else are you possibly going to do on Super Bowl Sunday?

 | ClassicTVFan47 (38) 04/02/2006 | The Olympics are so much better than the Super Bowl in every possible way. Give me a preliminary round-robin Women's Curling match over this pigskin snoozefest ANYDAY! ^_^

 | MeTalhed (0) 04/02/2006 | Do it every year. Football bores the sh*t outta me
(3 voted this helpful, 0 funny and 0 agree) |
 | PzKpfw VI E (28) 03/19/2006 | That depends; I would have to watch the game next year and decide about the year after. Why?
Because this year's Super Bowl was boring, last year's was okay and the year before saw one great half.
As you see, the games are consistently getting worse, and if next year's shows promise, I'd say I COULD go without it, but I'd prefer too watch it.
If next year's game is crap, it may be a greater possibility.
But, if you watch a Super Bowl simply to watch football, you'll be dissapointed.
The Super Bowl is about drinking, eating and spending some time with friends and family.

 | Drummond (60) 02/14/2006 | I've actually lost interest in professional sports over the years. Too much money and commercialism. I watched part of this last Superbowl because of the history made by the Seahawks, but unless there's a party somewhere nearby I don't bother. I'd much rather watch the minor leagues or school sports where there is still heart in the games.
Superbowl day a great time to take kids to museums and parks. They're practically empty.

 | Tiffany1986 (32) 02/13/2006 | I very regularly skip the superbowl. Oftentimes the other networks run marathons of my favorite shows on the same day instead of trying to compete with the game. Plus you can go online now and watch all of the commercials, and the sport shows my dad watches show the good parts of the game so I dont feel like I'm missing out on anything.
