Threw the curveball when everybody said it was just an optical illusion. To prove them wrong he had three poles planted in the ground, in a straight line between the mound and home plate. Legend has it that he threw a curve - that passed to the right of the first pole, left of the second and right of the last pole before crossing the plate, thus debunking the optical illusion myth.
