Arguably the greatest of all pitchers whose career is solely in the 19th century. Won 59 games in 1884- ok, the rules and expectations were different, and baseball was a comparatively primitive game, but it's still impressive. Had some other years that were great in the context of the time, and wound up with over 300 victories. Primarily played for the long since extinct Providence team, and the Braves, though he also toiled for the Reds toward the end. Ornery pitcher who apparently accidently shot himself in the face and disfigured himself, and had a tragic life after baseball, dying in 1897 of a disease that eludes me at the moment. Worthy of enshrinement.
