His importance to the game is overwhelming, both historically, and as the kind of player he was. Robinson was a fierce and ruthless competitor, one of the most fiery spirts that has ever played the game. In so being he did much to destroy any though that black players would be compliant Stepin Fetchit models. Nothing could have been better for the game.

No brainer for historical significance and a very fine player with The Dodgers, also starred in The Negro Leagues... to me, it seems likely that nobody without a serious conflict of interest -i.e. someone possessing a huge degree of racism or crypto-racism, would even attempt to question this choice IMO.
